LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A man is facing gun-related charges after an “accidental” shooting in a Henderson apartment, police say.

Henderson Police Department responded to a 911 call about an unresponsive person with blood around his head around 8:57 a.m. at 1250 Wigwam Parkway.

Arriving officers and firefighters located a 21-year-old victim in a bedroom with a gunshot wound to his head. The victim was immediately taken to a nearby hospital with critical injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

An investigation determined that another resident, identified as 24-year-old Timmon Betts, was handling a firearm in the living room of the residence and accidentally fired a round, which struck the victim in another room.

Betts was arrested and charged with disregarding the safety of another person resulting in death or substantial bodily harm, and destroying or concealing evidence.

On April 24, detectives were informed that the victim died from his injuries.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
