LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — One person is dead and seven others are displaced after an apartment fire late Monday night in Las Vegas, according to the Clark County Fire Department.
Dispatchers received calls about the fire in the 1900 block of East Tropicana Avenue, near Eastern Avenue, around 11:51 p.m. Monday. The first crews to arrive found smoke and flames coming from the first floor of a two-story multifamily building.

Firefighters began working to extinguish the flames and found a victim inside the apartment. The victim was pulled out but was pronounced dead at the scene.
The fire was contained to the apartment where it started, but smoke displaced seven people. They are being assisted by property management, family members and the American Red Cross.

Clark County Fire Department said 45 personnel responded, including seven engines, two trucks, two rescues, two battalion chiefs, two investigators and an EMS captain. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police assisted with traffic control and NV Energy secured power.
No firefighter injuries were reported.
The cause remains under investigation.
