LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — After more than a year of construction, the $13.9 million Sloan Lane extension project is complete, connecting communities in the East Valley.
The county broke ground on the project in September 2025 to connect Ruby Creek Drive to Vegas Valley Drive by extending Sloan Lane over the Las Vegas wash with a new bridge. It comes with a variety of updates to the pavement, curbs and streetlights, new signage and pavement markings.

County Commissioner Tick Segerbloom said in a social post it would save residents over a mile of driving.
Helena Clark, who owns a karate studio in the area and lives nearby, says she’s thrilled with the new infrastructure.
“It was the happiest day of my life with my husband; we just drove in there now that it’s open. He said it saved us over a mile and a half to drive to karate,” Clark said.
However, some residents in the area say they didn’t want the new bridge.
“I didn’t want it, to tell you the truth. I do like how quiet it was back here. Now we’re going to have multiple cars coming through just to get through. It is a nice little cutoff, I mean, in some cases, just to get to Vegas Valley side,” Quinn Taligatos said.
