LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A 16-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection to a January robbery that left one person dead near Harry Reid International Airport.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of the shooting in the 5200 block of Garden Lane around 6:17 p.m. on Jan. 26. Officers arriving at the scene discovered two individuals suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, and immediately transported them to a local hospital.

One of the victims died at the hospital, while the other was treated for critical injuries, police say.

A preliminary investigation by LVMPD revealed that the victims were inside the garage of a residence on Garden Lane when two unknown suspects approached them and robbed them at gunpoint. The suspects fled the scene but were chased by the victims, who engaged them in a physical altercation.

Police say both victims were shot during the altercation, and the suspects were gone by the time police arrived.

Earlier this month, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police announced that suspects Ervin Ortega-Rodriguez, 21, and Daniel Meza-Ortega, 19, were arrested in connection with the Jan. 26 shooting in the 5200 block of Garden Lane, near Tropicana and Maryland Parkway.

The 16-year-old was identified by police as the third suspect in the deadly robbery. He was taken into custody on Saturday, Feb. 17, on multiple felony charges. These include open murder with a deadly weapon and robbery.
