LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Las Vegas Metro Police announced over a dozen people were arrested during a Halloween sex offender compliance check.
According to LVMPD, between Oct. 27 and Oct. 31, an in-person enforcement operation took place across Clark County to ensure compliance with sex-offender registration rules and regulations.
Officials report that, through the course of the operation, nearly 2,000 sex offenders were contacted, which resulted in a total of 19 arrests.
8 people were arrested, facing charges related to failing to follow sex offender registration laws, and 11 others were taken into custody on sex offense charges and outstanding warrants, said LVMPD.
LVMPD identified the 8 arrested, facing charges related to failure to obey sex offender registration laws:
- Robert Bieber, 84
- Matthew Coria, 30
- Timmy Elmer, 45
- Julio Luaces, 69
- Scott Yates, 71
- Dana Byrd, 62
- Curtis Walton, 36
- Brett Thompson, 35
LVMPD said they would like to remind sex offenders who are registered that they must have their address verified according to the tier they’re assigned.
Sex offenders are split into three separate tiers related to the offense committed, according to police. The community can access a database of registered sex offenders in the area.
