LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – One Clark County leader asks for a review of fines for illegal short-term rentals, as FOX5 has learned that the highest fine has approached $240,000.

County Commissioner Ross Miller proposed the review during a Clark County Board of Commissioners meeting.

FOX5 has reported on how fines can soar with noncompliance, such as when the City of Las Vegas City Council unanimously approved a $180,000 fine for an illegal Airbnb. Councilwoman Victoria Seaman later explained the reasoning, arguing the issue was about noncompliance and breaking the law.
