LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A Florida-based no-kill shelter has paired with an anonymous donor to double the reward for information on the death of Reba the bulldog.

In addition to the reward, Big Dog Rescue is also placing 48 billboards around the Las Vegas Valley and hiring private investigators in hopes of bringing forward any information.

Reba the English Bulldog was located inside a taped plastic bin next to a dumpster near Boulevard Mall. Animal advocates who helped transport her to the Veterinary Emergency Group noted that it was nearly 100 degrees outside when she was found.

Unfortunately, Reba would pass away days later, despite round-the-clock surveillance from veterinarians.

Loree Simmons, the founder of Big Dog Rescue, told FOX5 that she was horrified to learn about what happened to Reba and was inspired to help.

Vegas Pet Rescue was the first to offer a reward for information on Reba’s death, which would eventually climb to $25,000 thanks to outside support. Big Dog Rescue is now able to double that to $50,000 with help from an anonymous donor.

“When we heard about this innocent, poor dog was placed in a container to suffocate near a dumpster, it just compelled us to get involved and try to help,” Simmons said. “We’re very fortunate that one of our supporters cares as much about animals as we all do and really wanted to help.”

She added, “By doubling the reward… we’re extremely hopeful that someone with information comes forward so we can get this person the punishment they deserve.”

Simmons says that she hopes the combination of the high reward and multiple billboards will provide an incentive for leads about this case.

“Somebody knows who did this,” she said. “It’s not fair for these animals to be abused this way, and it’s not fair that someone can get away with it.”
