LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A 22-year-old fatally shot his stepfather in northwest Las Vegas, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said.
The shooting happened Tuesday around 9:06 p.m. Police said they responded to a shooting in the 10100 block of Royal Mint Avenue. This is near Elkhorn and Hualapai.
When officers arrived, they found a male suffering from gunshot wounds inside a residence. Medical arrived and transported him to UMC Hospital where he died.
Homicide detectives learned that the victim was in an altercation with his 22-year-old stepson.
Police said Alexander Renteria shot his stepfather during the altercation. He was arrested at the scene and booked into the Clark County Detention Center for open murder.
The identification of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
