LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The UNLV men’s basketball team (2-1) got back in the win column with an 80-69 victory over Omaha (2-2) Thursday night at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Four Runnin’ Rebels scored in double figures, led by Jalen Hill with 17 points, eight rebounds and a career-high five assists. Bear Cherry also added 17 points with four rebounds, while Dedan Thomas Jr. scored 15 and Jaden Henley contributed 10.

The Mavericks also had four players in double figures in scoring, led by Ja’Sean Glover’s 17 points on 5 of 6 3-pointers.

GAME OF RUNS: UNLV led by as many as 13 midway through the second half, but Omaha came back to tie the score at 63-63 with under five minutes to go. The Runnin’ Rebels used an 11-1 run, started by six straight points from Hill and a long 3-pointer by Julian Rishwain, over the next 3:30 to pull away.

QUOTABLE: “Extremely happy with the result. Every game that we play during the non-conference has a purpose or a reason, whether it is coaches we know or styles they play. Omaha brought another unique challenge for us tonight and we’re getting better. We just have to be more consistent, but it’s not from a lack of effort or lack of time and investment that the guys are putting in. We are going to have some great film to show the guys to continue to get better, because we had a lot of really good possessions and we’ve got some things that we can tighten up. There is a lot to be excited about right now.” – UNLV head coach Kevin Kruger.
