RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – FEMA has approved federal aid for the Hawk Fire.
The fire is burning in the area of Hawk Meadow Trail and has burned 15,051 acres as of Monday morning. The fire remains 0% contained.
A request for federal aid was submitted on Saturday when the fire was threatening around 1,500 homes and around 3,500 mandatory evacuations had already taken place.
The aid will provide federal funding for around 75% of eligible firefighting costs.
The funds can be used for expenses like equipment use and supplies.
