LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A former Las Vegas city councilwoman Michele Fiore appealed a verdict after was convicted of seven federal wire fraud charges.
In October, Fiore was found guilty for starting a charity scheme that promised donations toward a memorial of fallen officers in the city.

Instead, she used those donations to pay for her daughter’s wedding and political fundraising.
Fiore, serving as Pahrump’s Justice of the Peace, was suspended without pay after the verdict.
She will be sentenced in January and faces a maximum of 20 years in prison for each count.
