LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Officials announced emergency preparedness efforts are underway over the Las Vegas Strip ahead of the second annual Formula 1 Grand Prix.
The U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration is conducting assessments of radiation levels before F1 on Saturday, Nov. 23.
On Nov. 19 and 20, low-altitude helicopter flights equipped with radiation-sensing technology will assist with preparation efforts.
According to officials, this is standard preparation to ensure and protect the public’s health and safety during the event.
The NNSA has notified the public not to be alarmed if they see helicopters flying at low levels.
