LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Nevada Board of Regents approved the transfer of Sam Boyd Stadium from UNLV to Clark County.
The transfer was worth $5 million.
The item passed at the board’s meeting Wednesday afternoon. The stadium is 69 acres and was operated by UNLV.
The university says it was costing them more than half a million dollars a year to maintain it.
The property must be used for public services.
According to county documents, the stadium was transferred from Clark County to UNLV in 1985 at no cost.
Clark County acquired the land from the Bureau of Land Management in 1962 and 1971. In 2020, the stadium stopped operations after the opening of Allegiant Stadium.
