LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Las Vegas police say a suspect fled a deadly stabbing in the downtown area Wednesday night.

Police said the stabbing happened at 11:53 p.m. in the 2100 block of Fremont Street near Charleston Boulevard.

Homicide detectives believe the victim exchanged words with the suspect as they walked past each other. Police said the victim was stabbed during a fight.

When officers arrived at the scene they found a man with stab wounds on a sidewalk. Medical arrived and transported the man to UMC Hospital where he would later die.

“This is an ongoing investigation,” police said. “The identification of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.”
