LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A crash near a southwest valley apartment complex created a large geyser that sprayed water for hours Wednesday morning.

According to Las Vegas Metro Police, the crash occurred around 5 a.m. near Fort Apache Road and Twain Avenue. An initial investigation found that the car struck a vent connected to a pipeline, causing the geyser to erupt, before hitting the wall of a building in the complex.

The Las Vegas Valley Water District responded to the scene and turned the main off around 7:30 a.m.

Water district officials also told FOX5 that by isolating the affected vent and pipeline, crews were able to prevent service interruption for hundreds of customers in the area.

The driver involved was uninjured, according to police.

The intersection will remain closed until the scene is cleared. Police add that an investigation into the crash is ongoing.
