LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Nye County Sheriff’s Office says they are suspending the search for a missing pilot.

The search faced obstacles previously with winds.

On Jan. 2, Michael Martin took off in his plane from the North Las Vegas airport. His plane later vanished and stopped transmitting a location around Indian Springs.

“Over the last 2 weeks, the NCSO along with Nevada National Guard, FAA, Civil Air Patrol and numerous other agencies have been searching the areas where the aircraft was last seen on radar or cellular phone service,” police said. “These searches were conducted using Drones, fixed wing aircraft, helicopters, on foot and in vehicles.”

Nye County officials say hundreds have hours were committed to finding the pilot and the aircraft, but there has still been no results. They made the difficult decision to suspend his search.

“If any information comes to our attention in the future, we will continue to follow any leads,” NCSO said. “Our thoughts and prayers will continue to be with Michael’s family.”
