FOX5 obtained the arrest report for Victor Munoz. He faces charges of attempted murder and battery with a deadly weapon and strangulation.
The stabbing happened Jan. 13 around 5:30 a.m. near Decatur and Oakey. Las Vegas police’ dispatch received a call from Munoz saying that he stabbed his wife, but she’s still breathing.
He hung up the phone with LVMPD before saying the apartment number. When officers arrived, they called him back and asked him to exit the apartment.
Officers noticed a man walk out of an apartment with a phone in his hand. He was identified as Munoz and was placed into custody.
Officers entered his apartment and found a woman hiding under the master bedroom bed. She had at least three stab wounds.
Police gave aid until medical arrived and transported her.
Detectives interviewed Munoz. He said he hasn’t been working and grew depressed. The couple were married for 38 years and have been living in America for three years.
About 30 minutes before the stabbing, Munoz told police he woke up angry at his wife and heard voices. He started to strangle her with a pillow.
His wife woke up and began to fight. According to the arrest report, Munoz grabbed a knife from the kitchen when they fell on the floor. He stabbed his wife at least three times before she hid under the bed.
When police asked him why he stopped, he said he saw all the blood and told himself he “was not a killer.” He saw his wife bleeding a lot, and that’s when he called 911.
He told police he doesn’t take narcotics, just only prescribed medicine.
He is due for an initial appearance at Las Vegas Justice Court Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. He’s ordered not to have contact with the victim until April 15.
