LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Governor Joe Lombardo early Friday morning ordered all state offices closed in the northern portion of Nevada.
It’s the second day in a row winter weather conditions have made roads and highways hazardous.
Winter storm and blizzard warnings remain in effect for much of the northern part of the state, as well as for northern California. Governor Lombardo has deemed the conditions too dangerous to bring anyone but essential employees into work. It will be business as usual for first responders, law enforcement, and corrections personnel, but all other state workers in northern offices can stay home.
The closure order applies to the following counties:
- Carson City
- Churchill County
- Douglas County
- Lyon County
- Storey County
- Washoe County
The Governor’s office will continue to monitor conditions. In the meantime, Governor Lombardo urges drivers to be especially cautious, and to follow all guidance from the Nevada Departments of Transportation and Public Safety.
