CARSON CITY, Nev. (KOLO) – Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo is calling for bipartisanship as the 2025 Legislative Session begins.

Feb. 3 marked the start of the 83rd session of the Legislature. The session will last 120 days.

Democrats have been able to maintain their majority in both chambers but fell short of the supermajority needed to overturn a potential veto from Governor Lombardo.

Lombardo had this to say:

“As the 2025 Legislative Session begins today, I’m hopeful that legislators will join me in setting aside partisan rhetoric and focus on what unites us this session, so we can make meaningful progress for Nevada families,” said Governor Lombardo. “As I said in my State of the State address, finding sensible solutions requires leadership, partnership, and bipartisanship. Together, let’s strive to make significant progress this session in lowering housing costs, expanding healthcare access, maximizing our investment in education, implementing education accountability, bolstering public safety, and building a stronger economy.”
