LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A North Las Vegas Police officer killed in the line of duty was honored with a procession and words of admiration from those who knew him.
46-year-old Jason Roscow was killed in a shootout with an armed suspect Tuesday.

On Wednesday, his casket was escorted by his fellow officers from the Clark County Coroner’s Office through downtown Las Vegas to Palm Mortuary.
Officer Roscow had been with North Las Vegas Police since 2007, working in different divisions, including traffic and patrol — and he was recognized with an Exemplary Service Award.
He was also a devoted father with two young sons, 4-year-old Andrew and 9 -year-old Graysen.
As his casket arrived at the mortuary, officers gathered, embraced and honored Officer Roscow with a moment of silence.
North Las Vegas Police said: “His dedication to duty and resilience in challenging situations earned him the respect of his colleagues and the community he served. Officer Roscow was more than a colleague, he was a friend, a mentor and a valued member of our law enforcement family.”
With a commitment to community, Officer Roscow was also a 3-year trustee with the Veterans of Foreign Wars, which provides scholarships for students and fights for improving VA Medical Center services for local veterans.
A candlelight vigil will be held Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Liberty Park outside North Las Vegas City Hall.
North Las Vegas Police said local funeral services will be held at Central Church in the coming days, with further details to be announced.
He will then be laid to rest in his hometown of Prairie du Rocher, Illinois.
