LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A knife was confiscated from a student at a Las Vegas elementary school, according to a letter obtained by FOX5.

The letter was sent Friday afternoon by Jan Jones Blackhurst Elementary School’s principal Jennifer Boccia.

“The safety of our students is the number one priority,” the letter says. “As always, we want to keep you informed of important matters happening within our school community.”

She says a knife confiscated from a student on campus by school staff. There were no threats to students or the school.

“We are not able to discuss individual student matters due to privacy laws,” she said. “However, CCSD policies and procedures applicable to this situation are being followed.”

Boccia says weapons of any kind are not allowed on campus.
