LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — UNLV has added temporary lanes and signage on campus routes as part of a pilot project called “Rebel Route,” according to the university.
The program launched in the fall to test how effective the lanes could be for scooters, skateboards and e-bikes. UNLV said the pilot program is currently taking place in only one area of campus, extending from the Student Recreation Center to Hospitality Hall to the Student Union.
Some students said they were unaware the program existed.
“This is the first time that I’ve actually had any kind of discussion about the lanes,” one student said.

Visibility and safety concerns
Some students said the lane markings are barely visible and that pedestrians have been walking over them.
UNLV said it is collecting feedback from users to determine whether improvements are needed or whether the program could see a formal rollout in the future.
