Second victim identified in homicide south of airport

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Clark County Coroner’s office has identified a second victim in a shooting that took place Friday evening.

Metro said on April 25 around 8:54 p.m. a shooting took place in a parking lot near Sunset Road and Gillespie Street, south of Harry Reid Airport.

Police said when they arrived on scene a man was shot in the parking lot, and a security guard had detained the suspect.

The victim — now identified as Engel Diaz Alarcon, 22 — was transported to the hospital where he later died.

On Tuesday, the coroner identified a second victim as Leonard Taylor, Jr., 49, who was a witness. The cause and manner of Taylor’s death have not been determined by the coroner.

Metro said Taylor and the suspect, 34-year-old Jacob Conrad, traveled together in a car, and a fight took place between the two. Police said Conrad pulled out a gun and shot Taylor in the parking lot.

Conrad was later arrested at the scene.

Court records indicate Conrad will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on May 13.
