LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Multiple fights broke out at a northeast valley high school during a combined lunch period Friday afternoon, parents and students tell FOX5.
The fights occurred at Sunrise Mountain High School as the school launched a pilot procedure that combined multiple lunch periods into one.
Viewer video sent to FOX5 shows staff attempting to hold back at least one student, and other students recording videos on their cellphones during the incident.
In a letter to parents, Principal Dawn Martin told parents that “isolated incidents” broke out at the end of lunch and “caused students to be late to class.”
Principal Martin added that they would review the one-lunch policy and review feedback from students and parents.
Students say they were released from classes early as a result of the incident.
Parents or guardians with questions or concerns about their child are urged to call the school’s main office at (702) 799-7207.
