LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A judge denied one of the suspects accused of Reba the Bulldog’s death a change of venue.

Wednesday, Isaac Laushal Jr. and Markeisha Foster appeared in court. Laushel’s lawyers filed a motion last week asking for a change of venue because of the media attention the case has gotten. His defense claims he can’t get a fair trial in Clark County.

However, Judge Michael Villani disagreed and declined.

Foster and Laushel will both stand trial on feloy animal abuse charges. A jury trial is scheduled for June 16.

Reba the Bulldog was left in a closed bin in a dumpster on an extremely hot day in July last year. Should would be rescued by passersby and immediately treated for injuries, but she did not survive from heat exhaustion.

Her story inspired a movement to increase penalties for animal abuse in Nevada and ultimately led to the bill known as “Reba’s Law.” It passed the legislature two days ago and is headed to Governor Joe Lombardo’s desk.
