LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Smoke from a brush fire centered at Wetlands Park in Las Vegas was visible Tuesday afternoon.
The fire, which was seen shooting plumes of smoke into the air around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, originated in the Wetlands Park area, located northeast of Old Silver Bowl Park, off Weisner Way, according to fire officials.
Tuesday’s fire appeared to be near the location of a brush fire that charred three to five acres just before 3:30 p.m. on June 9. The cause of that fire is still under investigation.
Earlier in the year, another fire burned 34 acres in the same area. That fire, officials said, was human-caused.
First responders did not immediately disclose a suspected cause of Tuesday’s fire, but did ask people to stay clear of the area, which includes W.B. Bennett RC Airfield, while fire crews work to control the blaze.
This is a developing story. Stay with FOX5 for more information as it becomes available.
