LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Monday marks exactly thirty years since rap legend Tupac Shakur was mortally wounded in a drive-by shooting near the Las Vegas Strip.
The 25-year-old superstar was targeted on September 7, 1996, and succumbed to his injuries six days later.

The attack came hours after Shakur’s entourage beat Davis’s nephew, Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, at the MGM Grand following a Mike Tyson fight.
The landmark anniversary comes exactly one week after a Clark County jury deliberated for three hours to find Duane “Keffe D” Davis guilty of first-degree murder with use of a deadly weapon.
The trial began on Monday, August 10 with the jury being composed of 6 men and 10 women. Prosecutors built their case on hours of recorded audio and Davis’s own 2019 tell-all book, arguing the 1996 shooting was gang-related retaliation.
Davis, the only person ever charged in the case, is scheduled to be sentenced on Tuesday, October 13.
