LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A Las Vegas woman is facing terrorism-related charges after being accused of sending a letter with a “suspicious substance” to a United Healthcare office.

FOX5 obtained the arrest report for Jennifer Forbes, a 50-year-old woman from California. On Tuesday, June 24, police say a United Healthcare employee reported a letter that contained an “unknown black and yellow substance” that resembled a fungus.

The office’s mailroom was cleared, and detectives noted in the report that those who interacted with the letter reported no symptoms. One person later reported stomach pains, but attributed them to possible anxiety.

Metro said Forbes signed the letter and provided her return address on the envelope. Employees told officers they viewed the letter as “threatening,” as it mentioned the recent murder of CEO Brian Thompson.

The note read, in part, “Choose wisely, I am flesh growing as fungus, under the canopy of natural magic, which comes as an equal trade off, can you take the (illegible) as suffering, as I bear witness, and (illegible) no supp there.”

Police said the suspect’s full legal name, home address, contact info, and primary care provider were also in the note.

Officers would visit Forbes’ Las Vegas residence. The report states that she stepped out briefly and admitted to sending the letter, but then retreated behind a fence on the property and refused to talk to police further.

Forbes was later detained for an unrelated traffic infraction. Detectives noted that as she was being booked, she became “hysterical and spontaneously shouted she wanted an attorney” and cried extensively.

Forbes remains in custody at Clark County Detention Center, according to jail records. It is unclear when she will next appear in court.
