LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — New video from the scene where a dog was found dead in a kennel shows the night before the Friday morning discovery.
The video seems to show two unidentified individuals dragging a heavy, rectangular object down a street after dark, leaving it by a dumpster before walking away. The timestamp on the video indicates the recording happened just before midnight on Thursday.
MORE: Dog discarded near dumpster in east Las Vegas may have already been dead, police say
On Friday morning, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officials received a call regarding a dog that had been left in a crate near the 100 block of North 27th Street in east Las Vegas.
At a news conference Friday, police said it was possible that the situation that led to the dog being left near the dumpster could have been a non-criminal one, where someone inappropriately discarded a pet that had died.
Investigators on Friday were examining the scene, including the kennel, for DNA, fingerprints, and other evidence. A necropsy is planned for the dog to learn more about its death.
Law enforcement officials asked for anyone with information to contact police. LVMPD’s non-emergency line is available by dialing 311.
