LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — An LVMPD officer faces eight charges and has been suspended, law enforcement officials said Friday.
The officer, identified by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department as Zachary Louis, has been with LVMPD since 2020. He is assigned to the Community Safety Division, Northwest Area Command.
Louis was arrested Wednesday by Nevada State Police and booked into the Clark County Detention Center, investigators said.
The LVMPD news release said Louis faces a felony charge related to failing to stop for a police officer.
He also faces misdemeanor charges associated with driving more than 40 mph over the speed limit, driving recklessly, not yielding to an emergency vehicle, changing lanes in an unsafe or improper way, driving under the influence, driving with no proof of insurance and driving an unregistered vehicle.
He will be suspended with pay as the investigation into Officer Louis continues, police said. Court records indicate that the state requested additional time to file a complaint against Louis, who was released from custody.
