Teen boy dies in North Las Vegas moped crash

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A teen boy died Sunday evening when his moped and a vehicle collided in North Las Vegas.

The collision occurred just after 8 p.m. on Sunday in the area of Pecos and Gowan roads. There, police said a Toyota Scion traveling west was turning on a yellow arrow when it collided with a speeding moped. The moped rider, identified as a 16-year-old boy, was taken to an area hospital, where he died.

Police said the moped had the right of way in this instance and that the moped’s speed may have been a factor in the crash. Impairment was not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
