LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Construction is progressing on the future stadium of the Athletics baseball franchise on the Las Vegas Strip, which is set to open for the 2028 season, according to a release issued Wednesday.
Construction has “gone vertical,” officials said, meaning that work has begun on the above-ground framework of the stadium. New video shared by the team shows walls and beams being installed and concrete being poured.
FOX5 has learned that the team plans to include facilities for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Clark County Fire Department. The Athletics will cover all costs, officials said.
Part of the plan calls for a 1,000-square-foot post on the parking garage’s ground floor for the fire department, and a 1,000-square-foot post in the upper levels for the police department, which will include a holding cell and booking room.
The Clark County Zoning Commission will review the proposal at its next meeting.
