Scuba divers find Boulder City couple’s lost wedding ring

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — August 2 was a rough day for AJ Limbo.

The Boulder City husband losing something very precious to him while hanging out at Willow Beach. “I love jumping off this rock right there. The second time I jumped off, I climbed up on top of this little boulder and that’s when I noticed the ring had fell off. I was like oh no,” AJ Limbo said.

Immediate shock from the loss of the ring, followed by disappointment after not being able to find it.

Not long after that, AJ’s wife Steffanie posted on Facebook asking for help to find the ring.

“I posted it on there not expecting or hoping for anything, just to see what happens,” Steffanie Limbo said.

“I think Ken commented on it the same day if not the next day.”

Ken Wige that is.

He’s a certified master scuba diver who has spent years going exploring Willow Beach to remove debris from the waters below.

It’s led to other divers volunteering to join in, occasionally delivering lost items back to their owners.

“I see the message, I see this and that it’s Willow Beach. Heck yeah. You lost it there? Jumping off the cliff? I know right where that spot is, would be more than happy to go take a look,” Wige said.

“I gave her a 1% chance we would find it. We tried to go out there three different times now. The first time, my boat was down, the second time the storm washed out the road. Odds are going down. The sand is going to cover it up.”

The Limbos joined the divers Saturday morning to search for the ring.

Within minutes, one of the divers, Beate, resurfaced with AJ’s ring in hand.

“I have her diving down at 9:06 and at 9:08 she comes up with it out of her hand and he was like ‘no way,’” Steffanie Limbo said.

It was an emotional moment for the newlyweds. They got married last October.

Finding the ring going into their first wedding anniversary meant everything, with all the gratitude going toward the divers who offered to help.

“I was just in awe. I was like there is no way. I was speechless. I just kept saying thank you,” AJ Limbo said.

The gratitude is the glory for Wige.

He’s happy his passion can occasionally make someone else’s day, especially when his fellow divers are involved in giving back.

“She’s coming up, Beate, holding the ring. How she found that, amazing. A miracle. One in a million,” Wige said.
