The arrest report says the officer located two vehicles believed to be the suspect. One was a white Volkswagen Jetta, and the other was a Pontiac. The driver of the Pontiac was ruled out as the suspect.

The officer began trailing behind the driver of the Jetta. At some point, the driver of the Pontiac pulled up next to the driver’s side of the officer. The officer said he saw the driver of the Pontiac point a gun and shoot at him. He also later reported that his back window was shattered.

According to the arrest report, the officer attempted to back off from the incident due to fear that he was in a vulnerable position. Another officer arrived on the scene. While they were trying to disengage, they crashed into one another in the front yard of a property.

The Pontiac and Jetta were later located at a home, according to the arrest report. Officers approached the residence and ultimately arrested Jaime Bustillos.

Bustillos faces several charges, including attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and firing a gun at a moving vehicle.

Bustillos appeared in court Tuesday morning, where his bail was set at $25,000. His next court appearance is expected on Thursday.
