LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Thousands of automated robots are transforming the way orders are processed at an Amazon fulfillment center in the Northeast Las Vegas Valley.
In an exclusive tour, FOX5 was granted a first look inside the facility, known as VGT1, located near I-15 and Tropical Parkway. The massive robotics fulfillment center uses cutting-edge automation to streamline deliveries and reduce physical labor for employees.
When an item arrives at the facility, workers check it before robots carry large inventory pods directly to stowing, picking, and packing stations. According to Amazon, this system significantly reduces repetitive walking and heavy lifting for its workforce, allowing employees to focus on quality control and other technical tasks.

“I love the robotics. It does make it easier,” said one fulfillment center employee during the tour. “The work is coming to me. I’m not having to go to the work. So it’s less physically taxing on the employee for the work to come to our stations.”
The worker explained how the system optimizes their daily tasks.
“When it comes here, I can get the item. I can look at it. I can pick it,” the employee said. “The robot is going to take the pod away. It’s going to bring me a new pod. And again, I do not have to go through the warehouse looking for the items. The system knows what items I need to pick. It’s going to bring it directly to me.”
Amazon representatives say the integration of robotic technology is designed to work alongside human employees to improve overall facility efficiency and workplace safety.
