LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Authorities detailed a crash that left a 31-year-old man dead near Speedway Boulevard in the north Las Vegas Valley.
The incident occurred just after 10 p.m. Sept. 17 on Interstate 15, south of Speedway Boulevard.
According to a release from the Nevada State Police, the crash happened when a semitruck and its trailing unit were traveling north on I-15, south of the Speedway Boulevard offramp. A hatchback, which was stationary on I-15, was rear-ended by the semitruck and overturned onto its left side.
The driver of the semitruck was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. The hatchback driver, identified as Rodbel Alejandro Virula, 31, of Wallingford, Connecticut, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Highway Patrol officials said they have investigated 45 fatal crashes resulting in 46 deaths so far in 2025.
