LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — According to a release from the cities of Las Vegas and North Las Vegas, officials have determined actions to be taken at the intersection where Cristofer Suarez, 12, was struck by a vehicle.

Officials said the school flashers will be extended at the intersection beginning on Friday morning. This would ensure they are active when students are walking in the area. They were previously only active when students were walking to and from the nearby Rancho High School.

The release also said the crosswalk would be cleaned to make it more visible for drivers and pedestrians. Additionally, a full traffic signal was scheduled to be installed. The design, which officials said is 30% complete, will be built in 2026.

Oh’Ryan Brooks, the driver accused of DUI in the deadly crash that killed Suarez, appeared in court Tuesday. He faces charges related to the crash. A police report said he admitted to his involvement and that he smoked marijuana before the crash.
