LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A work session on NV Energy’s proposal for repaying some 60,000 overcharged customers will have to be rescheduled.
The Public Utilities Commission of Nevada is investigating how the overcharging happened.
Tuesday morning, it planned to review the utility’s plan for repaying most of those customers. But then, staffers told commissioners that NV Energy still hadn’t given them access to the necessary customer data. Attorneys for the power company raised concerns for its customers’ privacy and security, but the commission said it still wants to see those records.

“Reading NRS 703-195, BCP staff should have access to every piece of paper, every record in the company, so this shouldn’t be limited to their own records,” said Sam Crano, utilities hearing officer with PUCN. “They should be able to look at whatever they want, and the commission is designating them; therefore, that needs to be done.”
The commission ordered NV Energy to grant investigators access to the data as soon as possible. It plans to hold another work session on the repayment plan within 45 days.
