LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A driver is in custody Friday morning after fleeing officers during an early morning traffic stop, police say.

Around 3 a.m., officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department attempted to stop a driver suspected of impairment in the area of Sahara and Atlantic, but the driver sped away from officers.

Police pursued the suspect, who continued onto I-11 from Boulder Highway.

The pursuit ended when the suspect crashed into another vehicle, and was taken into custody shortly after. The suspect was not immediately identified.

Two of the three southbound I-11 lanes were shut down between Boulder and Flamingo during an investigation into the incident. As of 5 a.m., those lanes have since reopened.
