LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — An arrest report obtained by FOX5 is shedding new light on why a man entered a valley business and announced that he killed someone.
Edwin Lora, 36, was arrested on Tuesday, Dec. 2 after police say he entered a business on Jeffreys Street and Reno Avenue, near the Las Vegas airport.
Around 1:06 a.m., Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department received reports of possible gunshots in the area, and met up with a witness who provided audio of the shooting, according to the report. The witness also told police that he saw a man and woman get into an argument, but officers could not locate any people of interest.
Around 5:07 a.m., dispatchers received another call from a 7/11 employee, who reported that a man entered the business and said that Lora killed his father.
“During contact with Lora, he made the statement that he is Jesus. Dad is god and shot him three times in the head,” the report said.
Police then entered Lora’s home, where gunshots had been previously reported, and located Lora’s father’s body on the couch with multiple gunshot wounds, documents said.
During an interview with police, Lora claimed his father had “killed him in a previous life” and cited multiple other disputes, the report said. On the night of the killing, Lora says he had been arguing with his girlfriend but left to lie down in bed with a pistol. He mentioned he believed his father may have had a knife and was “pretending to be asleep.”
Shortly after, Lora said he got up and stood over his sleeping father, pointing the pistol at him and asked, “Is this what you want me to do?” before firing six times, according to documents.
Lora told police he left his gun in the house and left ask for help at several neighboring homes and businesses, the report said.
Lora was arrested on a charge of open murder and booked into Clark County Detention Center. He is due in court on Monday, Dec. 8, 2025.
