LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A fourth suspect has been arrested in connection with an explosion at the door of a Las Vegas restaurant near The Strip.
Joseph Gutierrez, 18, was arrested Thursday and faces charges related to a small explosion at Piero’s Italian Cuisine on Convention Center Drive in Nov. Charges include possession, manufacturing, or disposing of an explosive device, first-degree arson, using explosives to damage or destroy property, conspiracy to commit first-degree arson, and transporting or receiving explosives.
Previously, John Navarro, Sarah Lianne Hernandez, and Phillip Daniel Munoz Gonzalez were indicted, facing charges related to the small explosion that occurred outside of the restaurant located just off the Las Vegas Strip. They face six felony counts, including manufacturing an explosive device, first-degree arson, use of explosives to damage or destroy property, conspiring to commit first-degree arson, carrying a concealed explosive substance or firearm, and possession of a controlled substance.
Video released on Dec. 1 showed the suspects placing what police described as an “improvised explosive device” outside the restaurant and detonating it. It happened in the early morning hours of Nov. 13.
Kevin McMahill, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff, said officers didn’t receive reports of the explosion until just after 10:30 a.m. on the morning of the explosion, when the restaurant’s cleaning crew arrived for work.
