LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Construction is underway on the New Windsor Park community, with the City of North Las Vegas confirming to FOX5 that all necessary permits have been obtained to officially begin building the 93-home development.
Located near Martin Luther King Boulevard and Carey Avenue, about a mile from the original neighborhood, the site has moved quickly. As recently as late January, the property was still a dirt lot. Now, approximately 20 homes have plywood walls up and another dozen or so have framing in place.

Residents react to construction progress
Original Windsor Park residents Margie and James McCullum said the progress was long overdue.
“About time, about time, yes,” the McCullum’s said. “Really is good to see they are finally doing it,” James added.
FOX5 visited original Windsor Park resident Nancy Johnson’s home in November, after all necessary funding for the new Windsor Park was approved in a special legislative session. Johnson’s home, like others in the original neighborhood, has been sinking — a condition she demonstrated by showing how a marble would roll sideways across her floor.
At the time, Johnson said that while she was glad funding had been secured, decades of broken promises and pushed-back deadlines meant she would believe her new home was being built when she saw it.
“So, the finish line for you really isn’t until you walk into your new house?,” a reporter Kim Passoth asked.
“Absolutely,” Johnson replied. “Everybody was, you know, it’s not gonna happen, it’s not gonna happen. But now it’s happening.”
Funding and timeline
The project received $25 million through Senate Bill 6, signed by the governor in November, in addition to $37 million allocated during the 2023 special legislative session.
The developer aims to have families in their new homes by Christmas. The original Windsor Park homes will be torn down and replaced by a park.
