LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Sentencing for former “Dances With Wolves” actor Nathan Chasing Horse has been stalled again, after his attorneys filed a motion to throw out his guilty verdict.

In January, a jury found Chasing Horse guilty of 13 counts related to child sexual abuse, but acquitted him of eight others. The former actor previously pleaded not guilty to all 21 initial charges.

Chasing Horse was expected to be sentenced last Wednesday, but according to court records obtained by FOX5, the sentencing date has been pushed for a second time to the end of the month.

This comes after his attorneys have filed a motion to vacate the guilty verdict, alleging that witnesses received compensation for their testimony during the trial.

According to the filing, a witness testified that they heard others were allegedly receiving compensation for their testimonies.

Additionally, Chasing Horse’s lawyers claim they received an investigation report stating a victim had been approved for a cash payment of $5,000 from the State of Nevada Victims of Crime Program.

The documents continues, “It is illegal in Nevada to pay a witness to testify in a court case. Nevada law treats any attempt to influence a witness’s testimony with money, gifts, favors, or anything of value as witness bribery.”

However, Nevada law does dictate that witnesses are entitled to lodging and travel compensation, though Chasing Horse’s defense is alleging that the compensation received was “10 times that amount.”

Chasing Horse is due back in court to address the motion on March 30.
