LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Six organizations were awarded $25,000 grants to address the community’s health needs.
The UNLV School of Public Health also received $150,000, bringing the total distributed in grants to $300,000.
The money will fund work supporting mother and child health and increasing immunization awareness. It also supports work to improve people’s access to healthy food, clean water and other non-medical factors that can affect health.
“Access is so imperative. It’s so important that those that struggle with social determinants of health, health risk and social needs, lacking jobs, lacking housing and transportation, through these partnerships will be able to support just a little bit more on making sure that they get those care needs met,” said Jayme Puu, CareSource Nevada CEO.
