LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — With demonstrations expected across Las Vegas today, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) is urging residents and visitors to plan ahead, stay informed, and exercise their rights peacefully.
In a public message, LVMPD said it supports the right of individuals to express their views “safely and peacefully” and emphasized its role in protecting both constitutional rights and the broader community.
Police: peaceful protest protected, but violence won’t be tolerated
LVMPD outlined several key reminders as crowds gather:
- Peaceful protest is a protected right.
- Violence, vandalism, or blocking public safety operations will not be tolerated.
- Officers will be present to help ensure everyone’s safety.
Authorities did not announce specific crowd estimates in the department’s message, but the guidance reflects expectations of heightened activity and potential traffic or public safety impacts.

Organizers cite concerns about government actions and rising costs
Organizers of the demonstration described today’s event as an effort to resist what they called “tyranny” and to oppose what they characterized as “unjust and cruel acts of violence” by the Trump administration.
In the statement posted alongside the event, organizers also pointed to rising costs and concerns that “families are under attack” as key reasons for mobilizing.
Commitment to nonviolence and de-escalation
Organizers stressed that the demonstration is intended to remain nonviolent. Participants, they said, are expected to act lawfully and de-escalate potential confrontations.
They also asked attendees not to bring weapons of any kind, including firearms that may be legally permitted elsewhere, framing the request as part of an effort to keep tensions low.
What to expect today
As people head to demonstration areas, LVMPD is advising the public to anticipate a visible police presence and to be prepared for possible temporary road impacts.
Both police and organizers, in their separate messages, highlighted the same goal: keeping the event peaceful and preventing escalations.
