LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — CCSD is honoring the life and legacy of its former chief nurse.
The district has formally renamed its health services building the Yvette Wintermute Building.
20 years of service
Wintermute spent 20 years in CCSD, starting as a school nurse and rising to chief nurse. She led the team at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The district says her career was defined by leadership, compassion and advocacy for student wellness before her passing in 2020.
“Yvette was not only a leader, but she was a friend. She was someone who would listen with as much time as you needed. She always remembered little details about you,” said Sheri McPartlin, chief nurse.
McPartlin said Wintermute embodied the nursing profession.
“She was the true epitome of a nurse. Kind, compassionate, and just always there,” McPartlin said.
Legacy wall and scholarship unveiled
The district also unveiled a legacy wall and a UNLV memorial scholarship in her name, all inside the new Yvette Wintermute Building.
