LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A Henderson motorcycle police officer was injured after a crash involving his motorcycle and a car at Windmill over the 215 Tuesday morning.
“I am very grateful to report to everyone today that, although he has a long road recovery ahead of him, and with his injuries, he is expected to survive and make a full recovery,” said Henderson Police Captain Seth VanBeveren during a news conference.
The motorcycle officer was working on traffic enforcement when his motorcycle collided with a car.
“The Henderson Police Department, as part of the Southern Nevada Traffic Task Force, which involves multiple agencies within the valley, was conducting traffic enforcement here at Windmill on the 215,” the captain said.
“Oh, that’s so sad. So sad. People just need to slow down. People need to slow down. The streets are so dangerous now,” said Lorraine Jones who drives in the area.
“Vegas is just getting crazier and crazier. It always has been,” said Mason Glass, who works near the crash scene.
Another driver told us that police have conducted several speeding enforcement operations in that area of the 215.
Police have not yet given details on how the motorcycle and car collided. The car’s driver stayed on scene and has been cooperative throughout the investigation, police said.
When asked if impairment is a factor, police said that speed would be part of the investigation. Windmill over the 215 has now reopened after being closed for about seven hours.
