LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Teamsters Nevada are set to hold a press conference to call on the state to implement protections for workers as automation and artificial intelligence expand across Nevada.

The union, which represents over 30,000 workers in Nevada, will be joined by Washoe County Commissioner Alexis Hill, who is also running for Governor, at the event in Las Vegas on Thursday.

The press conference followed the close of the public comment period at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration regarding Zoox’s application to operate commercially. Zoox, an autonomous vehicle company owned by Amazon, and Waymo, owned by Google, are operating in Las Vegas.

Both companies have expressed interest in expanding operations in 2026. Some legislators raised concerns about safety and registration fees at the beginning of the year.

Teamsters Nevada said it has been demanding guardrails and accountability of Big Tech and corporations to protect jobs and strengthen the workforce.

FOX5 will livestream the press conference, set to start at 10 a.m.
