LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Michelle Romero, the current mayor of Henderson since 2023, is running for reelection.

Romero said she has lived in Henderson her entire life and raised her family there.

Lifelong resident with city experience

“I have a unique understanding from a resident’s perspective,” Romero said. “But I also certainly have served for 25 years as a city employee in many different departments, but many of those were in redevelopment, making sure that the oldest parts of our city were on par with the rest of our city.”

Endorsements and relationships

Romero said she has established strong relationships with residents, the development community and the business community.

“It’s why I’ve been endorsed by everybody,” Romero said. “From the sheriff and the governor, multiple law enforcement agencies, every chamber of commerce, just about every veterans organization we have, many, many different unions. All of them have been built on trust and doing what I said I was going to do.”

Fighting for residents

Romero said she is not afraid to say no when something is not appropriate for the city.

“I’m not afraid to fight for residents when there’s something that I don’t feel is right for them,” Romero said. “And I have done it in the past. And I have had them come back and thank me for that.”

Future goals

Romero said she wants to look at how the city can take advantage of AI and bring in more cultural arts to the community, especially for young kids.
