LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Nevada transportation officials are warning drivers to expect heavier traffic, intermittent restrictions, and changing traffic patterns in the Las Vegas Valley during Electric Daisy Carnival events this week.

The Nevada Department of Transportation said motorists traveling near the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and the resort corridor should plan accordingly, allow extra time, and use caution during peak travel hours.

On Thursday, May 14, from 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., NDOT says the southbound Interstate 15 off-ramp to eastbound Sahara Avenue will be closed.

The Sahara Avenue south bridge near Las Vegas Boulevard will also be closed. Restrictions are tied to the EDC World Parade event, officials said.

From 1 p.m. Friday, May 15, to Sunday, May 17, at 10 a.m. NDOT expects altered traffic patterns on northbound I-15 near Exits 52, 54, and 58 in the Apex area.

Additional traffic impacts are expected on Las Vegas Boulevard between Nellis Boulevard and Apex, and on Craig Road between Nellis Boulevard and Las Vegas Boulevard.

Delays are most likely between 2 p.m. and 6 a.m., according to NDOT. Officials are advising drivers to consider alternate routes.

NDOT urged motorists to use caution in work zones and recommends using the Waze navigation app to notify the public about planned highway restrictions. The schedule may change due to weather or other factors.
